Writing Assignments

Here are some points to remember:

1. Keywords

Keywords are the nouns in the assignment question or statement and process words tell you what to do.

2. Process Words

Process words explain what the reader should do. For example you may be asked to, “discuss”, “explain” or “compare”.

What do they mean? Record each word and it’s meaning by looking them up in the dictionary to get a clear concise explanation.

Contrast is an interesting process word. When this word pops up in your assignment you are meant to say how one thing is the SAME or DIFFERENT to another. We are basically comparing things.

3. Your Preparation and Research

If you are interested in winning the intellectual game of writing then make sure you prepare well. All games require preparation and an understanding of the rules.

Collecting Data

Next, prepare by researching your keywords. You are not going to create your introduction. You are not going to create the body of your essay, or your conclusion.

You are going to prepare your notes! Become an expert on the topic. Read as many on-topic resources as you can find, dealing with your topic and record your most important observations, understandings and examples. This is how you prepare to write something meaningful.

Organizing Data

Now that you have created your notes make sure to label everything and organize these notes according to your important keywords or key ideas. This way you can locate information for your essay or report, quickly.

Presentation

Creating your presentation is the next task and the assignment should give you a clear idea of how to present your answer.

Let’s just assume you are writing an essay that will have three major parts: firstly the introduction and a possible thesis(what you think the answer should be), a body(containing the arguments – major essay points) and lastly the conclusion.

Your preparation is the most important step in getting the best assignment mark, so put a lot of effort into completing this step well.

Using Terrans in Starcraft 2

If you’ve never played Starcraft 2 before and are a sucker for humans in a science fiction game, the Terrans are the race you’ll want to start with. While they are technically not human, Terrans are pretty much human in every way you can imagine. There buildings even carry names you can recognize and understand without having to reference the game guide every 5 minutes.

In terms of actual gameplay, Terrans offer a very simple, well rounded unit option for your game play. The idea is that their basic infantry can attack from the air or the ground, doesn’t cost too much, but doesn’t necessarily provide the quick to produce, throw away status that you get out of zerglings. Additionally, you will spend less than either zerg or protoss on your buildings and defenses.

As a result, the Terran battle strategy almost always revolves around setting defenses like walls using Supply Depots. If you add in Siege Tanks which can attack a large number of enemies in a single spray, you have an extremely powerful defensive race that can withstand even the largest of Zergling rushes, if you are prepared for it.

Another important factor for Terran players is that their buildings almost all fly. This means that you can easily move your structures between your base and expansions whenever you need to. This makes it far less dangerous to construct valuable buildings like Command Centers in frontier expansions when you are not yet sure how safe it is.

With all this flexibility, however, you lose some of the efficiency you get from Zerg and Protoss which can be operated using hot keys and button mashing. Because of the Tech Labs and Reactors that Terrans have, they are not able to mash the same button. You can instead cycle through each building and then build according to what you need and where.

If you do it right, however, it is feasible to generate an effective long term strategy for creating new units without having to zoom in on the building each time and wait for the process to go through. It will, however, take a lot longer to get used to if you’ve already been playing as either of the other two races.

When it comes to attacking, Terrans have many strategies – designed to match their overall versatility as a race. The most common attack strategies for low level players are the rushes, using Banshees or Reapers. You’ll also want to learn how to expand quickly using the flying buildings and a buffer between expansions and your base.

Terrans are a fantastic race for a lot of reasons. They are fun to play, recognizable in many ways, and adaptable to almost any situation. If you’re serious about playing Starcraft 2 in a way that allows you to take on any opponent with minimal notice, you’ll find the Terrans one of the best races when getting started.

Jumping Head First into Starcraft 2’s 2v2 Multiplayer

Since it was first released, the original Starcraft has taken on epic proportions around the globe, becoming a national sport in some regions and breeding endless tournaments. So, with Starcraft 2, it’s no surprise that millions of players have waited eagerly to get into the 2v2 multiplayer and work their way up the Battle.net rankings. But, before you start testing your mettle against other RTS junkies, it’s a good idea to review what you’ll be getting yourself into and how to be successful early.

Working as a Team

Most people are used to playing multiplayer games on their own. You might play on a team, but the majority of your team mates are going to run around as they please, leaving you to your own devices. With 2v2 play in Starcraft 2, you need to learn how to work closely with your team mate to generate and follow a strict strategy that will give you the upper hand against your opponent. If you’re playing random matches, this can be very hard.

So, to start with, make sure communication is possible. If you don’t have a headset, get one, or at the very least use the chat feature liberally. It’s even better if you know your teammate ahead of time so the two of you can develop strategies prior to the match starting.

Ideally, you want to build units that complement each other – allowing your team to successfully counter any attack strategies by your opponents. For example, one player can focus on economics while the other does the scouting and micro attacking. Or one could setup defenses and detectors while the other builds the attack force for early strikes.

The goal here is to spread out the work as much as possible so that when it comes time to take on your enemies you’re not left holding the short end of the stick.

Playing Effectively

There are two major things that you must do in 2v2 matches to be successful. First, you must scout and prepare for whatever your enemies are doing as early as possible. Second, you must expand whenever you can and in places that other players may not expect. The more unpredictable you can be in your expansions and your scouting methods, the less likely your opponents will be to attack you right away, and the better opportunities you’ll get to surprise them.

There are different tactics for every faction to sneak around your enemies defenses, trick them with unexpected buildings, or simply throw them off the trail of your true tactics. Use offline maps and single player to master these strategies early and use them often.

Ultimately, a good 2v2 player will be someone who can learn and adapt quickly, work with their partner and be effective in nearly every aspect of their play. If you can do that, you’ll be well on your way to Platinum status.

Starcraft 2’s Zerg Rush in a Nutshell

One of the most constant aspects of all RTS games is the “zerg rush” first made famous by the original Starcraft in the 1990s. The idea is to build as many low level, low cost infantry as possible as fast as possible and then attack the opponent before they can build much of anything. With the right speed, you can defeat your opponent within a few seconds using a basic zerg rush – or in the case of Starcraft 2 a Zergling Rush.

So, how does the ages old strategy hold up in the newest iteration of Blizzard’s epic RTS update? It’s generally the same, but with a few very important variations. To start with, the game is far more punishing if you fail. A failed rush is pretty much the end of your game. Both Terrans and Protoss will eviscerate a Zerg team that has a similar number of units, so if you don’t move fast enough, you can count yourself out.

Practicing to Master the Rush

To avoid the eventual mutilation of your units, you’ll be best off by downloading and practicing with AI maps. Rather than facing off against human opponents that can lower your rating or rub in your poor moves, you can practice on computer generated maps against non-existent foes while offline. Expect to lose a few times as you learn how to get your queens into gear faster and faster and to take advantage of your resources as quickly as possible, but in reality Zerg is not that complicated if you can master the maneuvering of those numbers before the Protoss bring in their elites or the Terrans out position you.

Two units you’ll need to avoid as much as possible during your rushes include the Colossi and Siege Tanks. Known as “splash damage” units, these will be able to completely destroy your forces in just a few seconds due to how low the health usually is in a Zerg population.

Expanding and Attacking

As Zerg, all of your strategies will revolve around getting setup and expanding your units as fast as possible at the beginning of the game. If your opponents have a habit of turtling and laying in defensive structures early, this can be extremely effective in taking advantage of their reticence.

The Rush

A basic rush starts by sending out your drones to mine for materials as early as possible. Then, you’ll want to build at your hatchery so that you can create an Overlord when you hit 10 supplies. When you hit 14 supply, stop building drones and create your Spawning Pool and Extractor. Move up to 16 supply with your Drones and then make a Queen. Finally, upgrade your Zergling Speed with the gas and then start building Zerglings as fast as you can. As soon as you reach 22, get your expansion and boost into gear with a Baneling Nest.

From there, it’s time to take out your opponents with your massive stash of units. Trust me, the other side won’t have nearly as many units to take you on unless they’ve been preparing for a rush (which is a lot more feasible in Starcraft 2 than in past games and expansions).

A zergling rush will only get you so far, but if you’re well prepared, act fast, and are good at hiding your intentions from your enemies, you’ll be well on your way to destroying them in those first few seconds.

Learn to Sing Gospel

If you've ever listened to the magnificent Mahalia Jackson or Andraé Crouch singing gospel, you were probably amazed by the splendor and power of their voices coupled with the incredible energy of their performances.

Given that gospel songs are so powerful and expressive, why does the average church choir just not reach the same level of emotion and musical glory? Well... to really sing gospel music as opposed to regular church music, different techniques and importantly a different mindset is necessary.

Birth of Gospel

The birth of gospel music came from the African American spirituals of the south in the mid-to-late 19th century. African slaves brought with them a rich musical heritage and part of that was the rhythmical call-and-response style singing. As many were taught the Christian faith, it was a natural thing to incorporate the teachings into this style of spiritual singing. Also, many slaves were illiterate so much learning and passing on of knowledge was done through songs and stories.

Call-and-Response

A call-and-response song revolves around a leader singing a phrase and the others in the group repeating it straight after. Everyone then joins in together for the chorus or refrain. It's beautiful in its simplicity and togetherness. The repetitive lyrics mean everyone can easily join in and create real emotion and meaning to the song.

Classic church hymns such as those written by Isaac Watts or Charles Wesley have a lovely quality but are more complex which means less people can sing them well. Multiple verses and a lack of swinging repetitive lines mean that many congregations and choirs don't seem to sing these hymns with that much heart. In addition, some churches do frown upon too much emotion being displayed in front of others.

The Right Mindset

Singing great gospel though requires a mindset that reflects "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!" This means loosening up, feeling the song deep down and not being afraid to let it out! However, for those of us who really want to become skilled, it doesn't mean you can forget about vocal technique. Gospel is one of the most difficult music forms to master and this combination of pure feeling and technique is what makes gospel a wonderful thing. Remember that you have to really believe what you are singing and be prepared to learn the techniques that will take you higher.

Ways to recycle that you may not think of normally

Bags of all varieties are all over the place. Whether they are made from clear vinyl or recyclable into plastic They have become a necessary nuisance to society and the American way of life. Certainly they are useful when we want to store belongings in a clean and easy to see way. But how many people actually stop and take the time to think about what becomes of those bags once we have unpacked our purchases and they are safely away?

Take for example the clear heavy vinyl that makes up the bags that newly purchased comforters are sold in. They not only make an easy way to protect the comforter, but they also provide a nice way to view what design the merchandise is made of without having to open the package right there in the middle of the store. But what happens to that vinyl packaging once the merchandise is home and in use?

Many ideas come to my mind. Right away, they can be used for storage. Say, if you have a toddler at home and they quickly out grow their clothing. You can just store their old out grown clothes in that vinyl bag and keep them for any little ones that might come along later.Also most department stores have a policy in place that says that all female employees must use a clear purse or pocketbook while at work. This way store security can see what they carry in their purses without having the employee empty the contents.Clear plastic would be easier to recycle than darker plastics. Not only is recycling the correct thing to do it is also easy and responsible. I'm sure anyone that can sit for five minutes or less can come up with reasons that using plastics and vinyls in enviornmentally safe. Not only does it make the contents visably enticing to the eye. But the plastic containers, no matter their original use. Always have more than one use. Why not use these vinyl or plastic bags as long as they will last us?

There are so many inventive uses for these practical things

Recycling should not be limited to plastic or vinyl Bags, we can of course recycle our cans and bottles but my challenge to you is to find a new and creative way to recycle this week. Once you have come up with your new idea and then don't keep it to yourself, spread the word. Together we may improve our environment and help our future generations to live in a better planet. We have turned into a disposable consumerism society but there is still a chance to change our ways, we can just think about the many items we throw in the trash, can we use it again? Making things work in a better ways does not always depend upon the person it self. It will also depend up on people around the person and about the inspiration that the person is gaining from people around him/her. Anyone can become an inspiration to anyone when the other person gets attracted or like what the person does and the way by which the person handles a problem or situation. Making someone feel better is also an equally important way to inspire the other person.

Have you ever wondered about how normally people turn out to be an inspirational speaker? It's all something like a spark of idea. Yes, if you get caught into a problem and turn blank on thinking how to react to that problem, and in a spark you get an idea to come out of the problem. But how does that spark comes out? Imagine a case in which an inspirational speaker is in front of a crowd who needs some energizing words but the speaker is not sure of what the crowd need… This situation happens coz the speaker is in a situation where he has to identify and trust in his own ability to convince others. Feed the speaker within yourself with confidence and gather the bets points you can convey to others. Try searching who was the one who inspired you and try explaining your own experience to the listeners first to make them feel at ease.

While you are trying to cast away the fear and feel of disability that is inside the listeners, then you ought to talk with them personally and interact with them than giving a long lecture that will most probably seem like a boring story telling session. Make people around you feel light do give out some sensible practical jokes that people can relate themselves with so that they will take things that happened to them like a joke and laugh out on it.
